Birdcheck Airport Audits Boeing 757 - 200 ![]() In recent years, there has been a defined duty of care on airports to ensure that wildlife hazards on and around the airport are managed to reduce the risk of bird strikes. We have a 125 point audit system, developed over many years, which addresses all points in a CAA Safety Regulation Group audit, plus others which are important for commercial organisations, such as public relations. Bird audits are now required by the CAA Safeguarding Regulations. As part of the audit process, Aerodrome Safeguarding information is gathered to satisfy CAA CAP738 (Safeguarding of Aerodromes) and CAA CAP772 (Birdstrike Risk Management for Aerodromes). Aerodrome Safeguarding maps can be produced if required. Aspects covered include: Local habitats Airport habitat Local agricultural Practices Active bird control Passive bird control Airport and local area procedures Development, construction and demolition Aircrew warning Bird activity and BCU activity recording Other wildlife At the end of the audit, a written report is produced, detailing areas requiring attention and suggesting remedial action where necessary. A percentage score is given which allows comparison with previous audits. |
